Emma Stone Rumored to Return as Gwen Stacy in Avengers: Secret Wars

Avengers: Secret Wars could end up fulfilling a longtime dream for fans of Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Man.

That possibility centers on Emma Stone returning as Gwen Stacy. Better yet, it wouldn’t be the same version of the character from The Amazing Spider-Man.

A new rumor suggests Stone could come back as a version of Gwen who became Spider-Woman, finally bringing Spider-Gwen to live action.

Emma Stone Could Return as Spider-Woman in Avengers

According to insider Yellow Minute, Stone is being considered to return in Avengers: Secret Wars as Spider-Woman. The claim, however, has not been confirmed by more established sources.

The idea makes perfect sense within the comics. On Earth-65, Gwen Stacy is the one bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, and she goes on to fight crime as a hero. Her origin was first revealed in Edge of Spider-Verse #2, published in 2014.

The character’s popularity in the animated Spider-Verse films has only fueled fan demand for a live-action version on the big screen, and no one would be a more natural fit for the role than Stone.

Stone’s Gwen died in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, a devastating loss for Garfield’s Peter Parker. Introducing a heroic, living variant of the character would be a landmark moment.

Avengers: Secret Wars is set to hit theaters in December 2027, with the Russo Brothers directing. Before that, Avengers: Doomsday is expected in December 2026.

If the rumor proves true, Secret Wars could deliver one of the Multiverse Saga’s biggest surprises.
