The Punisher: One Last Kill Sequel Reportedly Faces Crucial Choice at Marvel
Daniel Richtman reports Marvel is weighing a series or a movie for Jon Bernthal's next Punisher project.

According to reporter Daniel Richtman, Marvel Studios is weighing whether to develop a follow-up to The Punisher: One Last Kill as a series or a movie.
The news marks an important update on Frank Castle’s future in the MCU. In May, just days after the Special Presentation premiered on Disney+, Richtman had already reported that Marvel was working on a new solo project for the character.
Back then, three formats were still on the table, including another Special Presentation, a new series, or a movie. Now, according to his latest report, internal discussions are reportedly focused strictly on a series or a movie.
Marvel Decides The Punisher’s Future After One Last Kill
The Punisher: One Last Kill premiered on Disney+ on May 12 of this year. The 50-minute special brought Jon Bernthal back as Frank Castle and was directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green, who also co-wrote the script with Bernthal.
The possibility of turning the next story into a movie also aligns with the wishes of the team behind the special. Ahead of the premiere, Green revealed that he and Bernthal wanted to make a theatrical Punisher film.
The director made clear, however, that he didn’t know Marvel’s future plans and that the final decision was up to the studio. At that point, a movie was merely a wish from the filmmakers rather than an approved project.
Since then, Bernthal also returned as Frank Castle in Spider-Man: Brand New Day, which hit theaters on July 31. Following the film, he again spoke publicly about his interest in continuing to explore the Punisher and different directions for the character.
For now, though, the new project remains in rumor territory. Marvel Studios hasn’t officially announced a follow-up to The Punisher: One Last Kill, let alone confirmed whether Frank Castle will get a new series or his first solo MCU film.
